Alec Baldwin Is Not Batman’s Father

Not more than a week ago we found out that the role of Thomas Wayne, Batman’s father was being filled by 30 Rock star Alec Baldwin. It would seem that the press release may have jumped the gun seeing as how Baldwin himself said in an interview “I’m no longer doing that movie.” He said that his departure was due to issues with “scheduling.”

Baldwin was the latest member of the cast to be announced and would have been playing alongside Joaquin Phoenix (as the Joker himself), as well as Robert De Niro, Zazie Beetz, Frances Conroy, and Marc Maron.

The film is going to be directed by Todd Phillips, who is best known for his work on the Hangover trilogy, and the legendary Martin Scorsese is involved as the executive producer. Very few details of the story have been released but it’s expected that this film is going to be inspired and perhaps loosely based on the Alan Moore comic The Killing Joke.

Joker: Origins is set to begin filming September of this year and is slated for an October 2019 release.
