Nintendo Brings Sega To Switch

Just before the annual Tokyo Games Show, Sega has announced that their collection of Sega Genesis titles will be making its way onto the Nintendo Switch in both digital and physical release. Sega Genesis Classics includes a variety of nostalgia-inducing games from the classic 16-bit system, like Sonic the Hedgehog, Golden Axe, Altered BeastKid Chameleon, and Toejam and Earl and will be released this winter.

 

This is the first time that most of these Genesis titles will be playable on a Nintendo console. Many titles will include their original local 2 player modes, playable with the Joy-con controllers. Sega said that the collection will also be receiving include some modern upgrades, like online multiplayer, achievements, in-game rewind and saves, and multiple display view ratios.

Similar collections were released earlier this year for PlayStation 4 and Xbox One. A PC playable version of the collection includes even more titles and has been available since mid-2010.
