Return of The Billy Dee: One Gal’s Opinion
Star Wars: Episode IX to see the return of silky smooth sexiness in the form of Billy Dee Williams!
How could I not kick off this relaunch with the news of this beloved actor returning to his iconic role?
No offense to Donald Glover, but Billy Dee Williams will always be my Lando.
Rumors of this return first started buzzing around my head back in early 2017, being reinforced by gems like this from the man himself:
“I’m not saying goodbye to that character. It’s still very much a part of my life. I created that character.”
All the excite followed and finally came to fruition with today’s announcement. Although, this will not mark Billy Dee’s first return to his suave rebel. His voice can be heard behind the character in Star Wars Rebels episodes Idiot’s Array and The Siege of Lothal, as well as various games, including Star Wars Battlefront and Star Wars Battlefront II.
Episode IX, directed by J.J. Abrams, will bring the now old crew back together (Daisy Ridley, John Boyega, Oscar Isaac and Adam Driver, among others), as well as introduce at least one new face, Keri Russell.
Not gonna lie, I’ll be screaming the loudest when we get our first look at the original Lando after 35 long years away. I’m sure seeing him will bring back a few things.
Get ready to swoon beginning Dec. 20, 2019.
