Trailer reaction: Spider-Man: Far From Home
Uuuuuuh . . . spoiler alert, I guess?
Either this thing happens before the events of Avengers: Infinity War, or Marvel just figures that no moviegoer on earth believes for one second that Spider-Man would just remain a pile of ashes.
Honestly, I am still coming down off the joy-high of Into the Spider-Verse, so to see the wall-crawler shackled to live-action film and a flesh-and-blood actor is the slightest bit of a letdown. Plus, the cinematography looks a little blah.
So it took watching this a few times, and remembering how very excellent Spider-Man: Homecoming was, to get me to appraise this trailer with the right set of eyes. Sure enough, Far From Home seems to display the same high energy and quick wit that made Tom Holland’s first solo outing such a smash. And the premise of sending Peter away on a class trip to Europe certainly shakes things up, as does the fact that said trip is getting hijacked by fellow phoenix Nick Fury, a bunch of element-based kaijus, and Jake Gyllenhaal as Mysterio.
Peter Parker risks getting his passport revoked when Spider-Man: Far From Home swings into theaters this July.
